Billing and usage¶
Billing shows your subscription and its limits. Usage shows how many tags you use against your ceiling. Both pages need a role that covers the whole organization. Prices are in your AWS Marketplace listing.
Billing page¶

| Tier | Your plan. |
| Status | Whether the subscription is active. |

Refresh¶
Watchtower checks the subscription about once an hour. After you change your subscription in AWS Marketplace, select Refresh to check now. Owners and admins see this button.
Edge cap reached¶
When active Edges reach the Edge cap, an amber note says "N Edges are active and the cap is N. New enrollments are refused until the count is under the cap. Existing Edges keep working." Deactivate an Edge you no longer need, or move to a larger tier.
Licence end dates and reminders¶
The subscription term end applies to the whole install and to every Privitty App. Each Edge also has its own licence end, which can be earlier.
Watchtower sends reminders 30, 7, and 1 days before an end date, at 09:00 in the install timezone. Set it in Settings. Reminders go to:
- Owners and admins, for the subscription end.
- Admins, as one summary, for Edges with an earlier end.
An amber banner on every page says "This subscription ends in N days." or "N Edges reach their own licence end within 30 days."
Extend Edge licences¶
After you renew, bring Edge licence ends up to date. Owners only.
- Under Extend licence, set New end date. It must be between today and the Term end.
- Keep All active Edges ticked, or clear it. Then tick sites and groups, or enter ids under Edge ids, one per line.
- Select Extend licence.
The page shows "Updated N Edges. Queued a fresh token for M that are online." Offline Edges get the new date when they next connect. Messages: licence end is in the past, licence end is after the subscription term, choose at least one Edge, no matching Edges.
Restricted subscription¶
A red banner means the subscription is restricted. Its text is one of:
This subscription has not been confirmed. This subscription is cancelled. This subscription has ended.
Existing Edges keep running and data keeps flowing. Watchtower refuses changes that grow or alter your fleet with restricted_mode:
- Enrolling Edges and Apps, approving or replacing Edges.
- Creating or editing templates, configuration, and secrets.
- Creating rollouts, resuming, skipping the wait, reverting, and Edge agent updates.
- Granting App access.
- Revoking certificates, collecting diagnostics, and Extend licence.
Sign-in, users and roles, audit, alarms, pausing and aborting rollouts, and revoking App access keep working.
To recover, renew the subscription in AWS Marketplace. Use Open the marketplace listing in the banner. Then select Refresh, or wait up to an hour. You do not need to enrol Edges again.
Usage page¶
A tag is one metric on an enabled asset in the configuration of an active Edge. Deactivated Edges and Apps do not count.
- The summary reads "X of Y tags (Z% of the ceiling)". The bar turns amber at 80% and red at 100%.
- "Config changes that would pass the ceiling are refused. Existing tags keep working." A refused change returns
tag_cap_reached. - Tags by Site breaks the count down by site, group, and Edge. Select a row to expand it. If no active Edge has a configuration yet, the page says "No active Edge has a desired config yet."
- Hourly peak charts Peak tags for each hour over the last 30 days. The first hour closes at five minutes past. Until then the page says "No closed hour yet."
Owners and admins get an email when usage reaches 80% and again at 100%.
To free up tags, remove assets or metrics you no longer need from the Edge configuration. See Edge configuration.
